In brief
Sound.me is a two-sided creator marketplace: artists, record labels and brands pay creators to make short videos with their sound or product on TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts, and creators use the Sound.me app to apply to daily paid campaigns and cash out via PayPal. It has 3M+ registered creators in 61 countries, who have made 90M+ videos with 181B+ organic views for 20K+ advertisers.
What is sound seeding, in plain words?
A sound on TikTok, Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts has its own page that lists the videos made with it. When a viewer hears a song they like, they can tap the sound, see everyone else who used it and make their own video. Seeding is the practice of putting enough creator videos behind a sound, early, that this loop has something to start from.
The idea rests on one pattern that shows up again and again in real campaigns: most of the views come from a few videos that take off, and you can't know in advance which ones. In a real $1,500, 72-hour Sound.me campaign, the best video had 74% of all the views. In a $9,973 campaign with creators under 20,000 followers, the best video had only 7%, and 113 videos passed 10,000 views. More videos means more chances for one of them to travel.
How is seeding different from one influencer post or an ad?
- One big creator gives you one video with a large audience. If that video doesn't land, the budget is gone. Seeding spreads the same budget over many creators.
- Ads are paid placements: they stop when the spend stops, and viewers see them as ads. Seeded videos are organic posts on the creators' own accounts, and they stay up. On Sound.me, creators keep their posts up for at least 45 days.
- Playlist pitching puts a song in front of listeners on a streaming service. Seeding puts it in front of viewers inside short-form video, where the sound itself can be reused.
They can work together: many artists run ads on their own videos of a song while creators seed the sound.
How many creators does a seeding campaign need?
There is no magic number, and anyone who quotes one without knowing your song is guessing. What you can plan with is what a budget usually delivers. These are Sound.me's projected results for a worldwide, 7-day campaign, measured on TikTok campaigns:
| Budget | Projected views | Projected creator videos |
|---|---|---|
| $250 | ~211K | ~38 |
| $500 | ~332K | ~75 |
| $1,000 | ~524K | ~151 |
| $1,500 | ~685K | ~226 |
At the high end, bigger pushes look very different. A managed $13,153 worldwide campaign produced 25,888 creator videos with 39.5M views, and a major-label imprint's $9,973 campaign with creators under 20,000 followers produced 1,184 videos with 8.69M views. These are strong results picked to show what is possible; the projection above is what to expect on average. See all of them on the case studies page.
What does sound seeding cost?
Cost depends on how you buy the videos:
- One by one. Commonly cited rates run from $25–150 per video for nano creators (1,000–10,000 followers) to $150–500 for micro creators (10,000–100,000), plus the time spent finding, messaging and chasing each one (creator rates in 2026).
- Budget-based campaign. You set one budget and creators opt in. On Sound.me the projection for a worldwide, 7-day $1,000 campaign works out to about $1.91 per 1,000 views. Real campaigns vary widely around that: cost per 1,000 views explains why.
Sound.me has no subscription: you pay once per campaign, by card at secure checkout, and the campaign goes live right after. If your sound isn't approved, you get a full refund within seven business days.
How do you seed a sound on Sound.me?
- Pick the platform and paste your sound. Choose TikTok, Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts (each campaign runs on one) and paste a TikTok, Instagram or YouTube link to your sound.
- Set the budget and run time. Runs last 72 hours, 7 days or 14 days.
- Target creators. By age, gender, language, creator size (from 100 followers to over 50 million) and location (worldwide, one of 24 countries, or a region). Add up to 3 example creators whose style you like and Sound.me finds similar ones.
- Give directions. Creative freedom, lip sync, dance, transition, text on screen or your own brief. Creative freedom is the most popular brief and fills fastest.
- Pay and go live. The first creator posts usually land the same day. On 7-day campaigns, 28% of videos are live within 6 hours, 45% within 24 hours and 73% within 72 hours (measured on TikTok campaigns).
Sound.me's team matches and approves creators; on TikTok campaigns of $1,000 or more you can also approve creators yourself. Our team watches every video and makes sure creators follow your directions. If they don't, they don't get paid, and that part of your budget goes back into your campaign for other creators. A live dashboard shows every post with views, likes, comments, shares and a country breakdown, updated every hour. How Sound.me works has every step.
What makes a seeding campaign work?
- The sound itself. Creators and viewers respond to the song. A clear hook in the part creators use matters more than any setting.
- Name the part of the song. If the chorus or a specific line is the moment, say so in the brief.
- Keep the brief simple. A dance or a detailed custom brief can take creators longer to post; creative freedom fills fastest.
- Many sizes, not only big names. Small creators make most of the videos on creator campaigns; micro-influencers vs big creators shows what each gives you.
- Target where you want fans. Worldwide fills fastest; a country or region puts the videos where you tour or stream.
- Repeat what works. Watch which videos and countries respond, then run the next campaign there.
When does another option fit better?
- You want one specific, named creator. Book them directly or through a marketplace where you hire creators one by one. Direct contact with creators isn't permitted through Sound.me.
- You want Spotify playlist placements. That is curator pitching, not seeding. Playlist Push, for example, sells TikTok creator campaigns and Spotify playlist pitching as separate campaigns (checked September 2026).
- You need a guaranteed number of views, streams or sales. Sound.me doesn't guarantee these, because real creators and real viewers decide. It shows projections from real past campaigns before you pay.
Ready to try it? Start with a budget you could repeat, keep the brief short and read the dashboard after the first 72 hours. Sound.me pricing shows what each budget is projected to deliver.
