In brief

Sound.me is a two-sided creator marketplace: artists, record labels and brands pay creators to make short videos with their sound or product on TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts, and creators use the Sound.me app to apply to daily paid campaigns and cash out via PayPal. It has 3M+ registered creators in 61 countries, who have made 90M+ videos with 181B+ organic views for 20K+ advertisers.

Run these eight checks on any app before you give it your time.

1. Does it say who pays you, and why?

Money has to come from somewhere. In a legit pay-to-post app, advertisers pay for something they want: videos with their song, product or message. Be wary of apps that pay you for watching or liking videos without saying who funds it.

Sound.me: artists, record labels and brands pay creators to make short videos with their sound or product. You are paid for videos that follow the advertiser's brief.

2. Is it free to join?

A legit app never asks you to pay to join, to "unlock" campaigns or to withdraw your own earnings.

Sound.me: the app is free on the App Store and Google Play, and there is no fee to join or to apply to campaigns. Payouts go through PayPal Goods and Services, which charges its usual small fee on each payout.

3. Does it explain exactly how pay is calculated?

Vague promises ("earn up to…") are a warning sign. You should be able to read the rule before you post.

Sound.me: each approved video is paid based on the views it gets in its first 72 hours after posting, at a per-view rate tied to your country and audience. Every approved video with measured views pays at least a floor that depends on your country: $1.00 in the US, UK, Canada, Australia and Germany, $0.75 in Latin America, $0.50 in the rest of Europe and $0.25 in Asia and Africa. A video with zero measured views earns nothing. How Sound.me pays creators has the full rule.

4. Does it publish real payout numbers, with a date?

An app that is confident in what it pays can show averages, not just its best case.

Sound.me: in the 90 days to September 16, 2026, the average approved video paid creators $4.89, from $1.81 for accounts under 1,000 followers to $113.67 for accounts over 1 million, across 23,003 paid videos. Payouts by country breaks it down by country, from $14.62 in the United Kingdom to $1.32 in Kenya.

5. Does it name the payout method, minimum and timing?

You should know how the money reaches you before you start.

Sound.me: cash out via PayPal from a $5 balance; payouts are processed within 3–5 working days after the campaign. Make sure your PayPal account is in good standing and can receive payments.

6. Does it have terms and an age rule?

A real company publishes terms you can read, and a platform that pays people should have an age rule.

Sound.me: anyone 18 or older with a TikTok, Instagram or YouTube account can join; the Terms of use require creators to be 18+. Advertisers and creators each have a contact email: creators write to hello@sound.me.

7. Does it tell you why a video wasn't paid?

Every legit platform declines some videos, because advertisers pay for videos that follow their brief. What matters is whether it tells you why.

Sound.me: the team watches every video. A declined video isn't paid, and you get an email with the specific reason. Common reasons are a voice-over or the sound not fully audible, a video shorter than 10 seconds, not following the directions, and reused old content. Why was my video declined? has the full checklist.

8. Does it have a track record you can check elsewhere?

Look outside the app's own website: app-store ratings, download counts, recent reviews (good and bad) and press.

Sound.me: the app holds a 4.5-star App Store rating from about 1,400 ratings, and the Android app has 1M+ downloads on Google Play with a 3.8-star rating. Sound.me has appeared in Billboard, Forbes México and Esquire Middle East (press). Read the most recent reviews on both stores: they show what real creators experience now.

What complaints should you expect even from a legit app?

Honest expectations prevent disappointment:

  • Declined videos. Not following the brief means no pay. Read the brief twice.
  • Few campaigns at first. On Sound.me, the system learns about you as a creator, so you might not receive many campaigns at first. Enable GEO location, complete your bio and post regularly.
  • Small amounts on small accounts. Pay follows views. Under 1,000 followers, the average approved video paid $1.81 in the period above. Getting paid with under 1,000 followers sets realistic expectations.
  • Payout timing. Payouts are processed after the campaign, not the moment you post.

What are real red flags?

  • A fee to join, to unlock campaigns or to withdraw.
  • Pay promised with no rule for how it is calculated.
  • No company contact, no terms and no age rule.
  • Pressure to buy followers or accounts. On Sound.me, buying or altering accounts gets an account banned, as do reusing copyrighted content, manipulating the system and impersonation.
  • Promises of big, fast money. Real pay-to-post income grows with views and consistency.
