In brief

Sound.me is a two-sided creator marketplace: artists, record labels and brands pay creators to make short videos with their sound or product on TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts, and creators use the Sound.me app to apply to daily paid campaigns and cash out via PayPal. It has 3M+ registered creators in 61 countries, who have made 90M+ videos with 181B+ organic views for 20K+ advertisers.

Why can't small accounts use TikTok's own program?

TikTok's Creator Rewards Program pays for qualified views on original videos over 1 minute, but it requires you to be 18+, with a Personal account, at least 10,000 followers and 100,000 video views in the last 30 days, based in the US, UK, Germany, Japan, South Korea, France, Mexico or Brazil. Ads, paid promotions and sponsored content don't qualify (TikTok Creator Academy, checked September 2026).

Sponsored-sound campaigns work differently. An artist, label or brand pays for videos made with their sound, so what matters is the video and its views, not your follower count. Sound.me vs TikTok Creator Rewards compares the two side by side. You can use both: a Sound.me campaign video is paid by the campaign, and your own original videos can earn from Creator Rewards once you are eligible.

What do small creators actually earn?

Sound.me publishes what creators were paid, net, per approved video in the 90 days to September 16, 2026:

FollowersVideos paidAverage per videoLargest single payout
Under 1K4,611$1.81$26
1K–10K13,412$2.04$289
10K–50K3,316$4.51$173
50K–250K977$17.62$420

Be realistic: at under 1,000 followers this is pocket money per video, not a salary. What changes the picture is volume and the occasional video that travels. Three quarters of the videos paid in that period came from creators under 10,000 followers, and the $289 video in the 1K–10K row out-earned the average account with 250K–1M followers, because it got views. Among creators with 5,000–20,000 followers, the average made $17.88 from 5.4 videos; the top earner in that band made $1,173.

How is each video paid?

  • You are paid for each approved video based on the views it gets in its first 72 hours after posting. Views after that don't change it.
  • The rate per view depends on your country and audience. Payouts by country shows the averages.
  • Every approved video with measured views pays at least a floor that depends on your country: $1.00 in the US, UK, Canada, Australia and Germany, $0.75 in Latin America, $0.50 in the rest of Europe and $0.25 in Asia and Africa. A video with zero measured views earns nothing.
  • If the advertiser especially likes your video, you might get a bonus.

  7. Cash out. Cash out via PayPal from a $5 balance; payouts are processed within 3–5 working days after the campaign.

How do small accounts get more campaigns?

When you start, Sound.me's system is still learning about you as a creator, so you might not receive many campaigns at first. What helps, according to Sound.me's own creator FAQ:

  • Enable GEO location.
  • Post diverse content regularly, not only campaign videos.
  • Complete your TikTok, Instagram and YouTube bio.
  • Follow campaign instructions closely, and if you commit to a campaign, follow through.
  • Don't reuse old videos with a new sound. Each submission must be original.

Accounts with high engagement, good video quality and consistent activity can be verified by Sound.me's curators, and verified accounts receive more campaign opportunities. You can't apply for verification; it is granted. If campaigns still don't show up, read what to do if you're not getting campaigns, and if a video is declined, why videos get declined lists the usual reasons.

Are there other ways to earn with a small account?

Some. Other apps pay creators to post, each with its own rules: some need more followers, some pay by bank transfer with higher minimums, some only work in a few countries. Apps that pay you to post TikTok videos compares them from each company's own terms. Brand deals usually need an established niche and audience first. Sponsored sounds are one of the few options where a small account gets paid for each approved video from its first campaign.
